This piece is an abstract interpretation of the day laborer's experience in waiting for work. The men photographed for this piece were immigrant day laborers in my neighborhood in Oakland, California.
The figurative characters are from sketches I developed during an artist residency in Provincetown, Massachusetts. The woman at the top is letting go of her past. The title of the piece in English is, "Waiting for a Sign."
This print is a 2-Color serigraph with glitter overlay, handprinted on archival Japanese handmade paper, and hand-torn edges.
