Collage with Screenprint and Linoleum Block Elements on Cotton Rag Paper

This new piece is one in a duo of fine art collages that are about my love for cooking meals using ingredients that come from the soil. This new work collages celebrates the joy that is alive in my kitchen - the plants, the leafy greens, the vegetables and fruits.

I love showing care for others by preparing amazing dishes. I love tasting food and then using my taste buds to identify the elements in a dish, so that I can later replicate it with my own approach. Since I was a kid, I loved to cook for my family. When I left home for college, I took my family’s recipes with me and created new ones that were a hybrid of my Peruvian culture and the Mexican and Asian cultures I had grown up with. I saw myself as a culture keeper of food wisdom.

I love to know where seeds, spices and vegetables come from. What did they look like before they were harvested? How many pollinators did it take to make such luscious fruits! Food is a pathway for healing. I like to think of myself as a messenger for those food elements that I combine to create intense mouth pleasure!
