This print is a self portrait of the artist. The artist, on the left, is uneasy and looks to herself for answers. She consults with her inner conscious and intuition, the small figure on the right. Her intuition is like a child she never had. Instead she has chosen to make art her lifelong child, always birthing new ideas, new works and nourishing her practice through the ups and downs. Yet she often feels lonely. So she asks herself, on a daily basis - is it all worth it? Her intuition looks into her heart, reassures her and says, "Yes, you are here to be a creative voice for change. Stay strong" And so the artist once again extends her hands so that she may create.
This print is named after Favianna's favorite song from the 80's band, The Cars.
This monotype is part of an Edition Varie* of 17. The color variation of each print was created by Favianna's rearranging of her acetate shapes and combining them with manipulation of the ink rollers. The prints were printed and editioned at Syracuse University's Lake Editions.
