Corn is sacred. It has nourished the peoples of Abya Yala (Turtle Island) for generations, shaping our cultures, histories, and the foods that sustain us. But corn is also a site of struggle. As corporations like Monsanto continue to challenge Indigenous seed sovereignty, communities across the region have fought to protect this sacred seed as a source of identity, survival, and resistance. This series honors the power of corn through large-scale works inspired by Peruvian weaving traditions, celebrating both ancestral knowledge and the enduring fight to protect what sustains us.
