Visiting Santiago Island in the Galapagos was like stepping onto another planet, where surreal black lava stretches endlessly in every direction. The lava on the island is old as 750,000 years. I became fascinated by the swirls and ropey textures left behind by once-molten rock. Through a completely natural process, the lava destroyed everything in its path. But when it met the ocean, it transformed into a beautiful, delicate surface. I felt deeply connected to this rocky surface when I explored it on foot, I was like a child playing in a world I had never experienced before. These prints are a the record of that memory and a celebration of the many fascinating textures on Santiago Island.
