This piece was part of a series of works inspired by my trip to the Amazon rainforest, where I connected with Indigenous land protectors in the Tapajos River region. I was so moved by experiencing the sacred Amazon forest via a women’s delegation with the amazing organization, Amazon Watch. One third of the Earth’s plant and animal species live in the Amazon. Therefore, it is critical that we all take action to protect this sacred forest, which is the most biodiverse rainforest in the world.
In this piece, I celebrate the colorful landscape of the Tapajos River, where Indigenous communities have stood up to huge transnational corporations, preventing the destruction of this magical forest.
