Two Color Screenprint on Mohawk Paper

This print pays homage to the activism exploding in the Bay Area in defense of a Free Palestine. I've been deeply inspired by how the people of the world are rising up to stand with Palestine. In order to disrupt the dominant narrative, it is imperative that we all do our part to shut down the veins of the economy. When I was a kid, my revolutionary teachers taught me that we have to hit those in power where it hurts the most, their pocketbooks. That means disrupting the economy by blocking the gears of the machine.

The Bay Area has shown up for Palestine in a powerful way, whether it’s blocking weapon shipments at the Port of Oakland, or blocking major thoroughfares, or working with our city electeds to pass resolutions in support of a cease fire, such as the resolution that just passed in Oakland.

We in the Bay Area have a deep history of direct action and unapologetic activism, and we inspire the world. My role as an artist is to uplift and record the times we live in, to provide a lens of interpretation and celebrate these powerful moments of resistance. Through art, I aspire to maintain these moments in the public zeitgeist so that they can become visual records in our shared imagination and consciousness. This original photo was taken by Noah Berger.

This piece celebrates the direct action for Palestine that took place on Thursday November 16th at 7:45 am, as thousands of people were trying to get to San Francisco and APEC, a global corporate summit, was in full swing. The action demanded a ceasefire and called out President Biden to do more for the Palestinians, 11,000 of whom have so far died in the military assault by Israel.

As usual with my prints about Palestine, I will donate proceeds of this print to organizations supporting Palestinian freedom and organizing direct actions such as this. This is my 3rd print about Palestine.
