This print is part of a series where I first began combining language and collage. From 2014 to 2017, my work was mostly abstract or figurative and rarely included words, as I reserved text for direct social justice posters. In 2018, I became interested in blurring the line between my fine art and political work, experimenting with stenciled words layered over collages. I was inspired by adding text to close-up studio photos for Instagram, which led me to bring that digital aesthetic into my physical pieces. What began as single compositions on Rives paper evolved into quilt-like works incorporating woodblock figures.
