This collage series is a celebration of water as life force—and a call to protect it. These prints emerged from my work on State of Fire, an art book exploring my relationship to water in California. In this state, water has been dammed, diverted, and drained to serve big agriculture, real estate, and industry—while only a small fraction reaches the people. Entire ecosystems are collapsing under the weight of this extraction.

Artificial water systems have enabled suburbs in fire-prone hills and farmland in deserts, fueling both drought and wildfire. These works imagine a different future—one where rivers run free and water is honored not as a commodity, but as sacred.
