2026, Collage with Linoleum Block Elements on Wood Panel.
12 x 12 x 1 inches. One original.
This piece was born from my first trip to Patagonia, where I stood among mountains, rivers, and ancient trees and felt, for the first time with my full body, that I am from a beautiful continent. Growing up in East Oakland, I had almost no access to wild nature, and it was not until my work as a climate activist that I began to understand what that absence had cost me. These portraits are a homage to the dream of rewilding: to learn the language of birds and trees, to experience the wilderness not as an eco-tourist but as someone for whom wildness is a birthright, not a luxury. To fight for nature is to fight for myself. In this piece, a figure with blue hair stands against a blue patterned background.
